The legal system is particularly favourable in property investment, since the end of 1980, with a sharp increase in growth and development in the property market, which is responsible for more than 12 billion in asset management.

We recommend always to get legal advise when purchasing property  There are a few basic steps that would help you understand the legal procedures involved in purchasing a property in Portugal: 
- The SIMPLEX program came into effect in 2009 that simplified the acquisition of a property.
- Important to find a legal agent with a license number (AMI) to assist in the purchase of the property.
- To sign a promissory contract.
- Signing a deed of sale
- IMI tax - municipal tax (paid annually)
